I thought when my girl started school, she was going to be a school lunch kid BUT as it turns out, school lunch is worse than ever and I want to make elaborate lunches just so I know she's not eating fucking chicken nuggets every single day.
UGH!
My oldest is a bit of a picky eater. I know, it's my fault, but all I can do now is try to introduce her to new and delicious foods. So my thought process was that she'd just get school lunch like all her peers and just by watching everyone else eat, she'd eat too. Cause, like, that's what kids do! Anyway, I'm just deeply disappointed by the school lunch options. It's chicken nuggets, burgers, and pancakes. Every week, same shitty food.
I wish our tax dollars actually funded things like healthy meals for school children but what do I know?!? *eye roll*
So here I freaking go! Planning and creating school lunch boxes because I just can't stand the thought of her being serves processed crap every day.
IF IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ME TO FEED MY CHILDREN PROCESSED CRAP EVERY SINGLE DAY, THEN IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR SCHOOLS TO FEED OUR CHILDREN PROCESSED CRAP TOO!
This is obviously I'm going to dedicate a lot of myself to because my children's health is important to me and by doing this for my children, I hope to maybe share a little inspiration for other parents to take their kids health back into their hands and make those poorly funded public schools stick that crap "food" where it belongs!
Just fyi, I was a school lunch kid and I actually loved it (sometimes). It wasn't super healthy but at least there was some variety! The defunding of public schools is an absolute travesty and I believe ALL children deserve not only free but nutritious meals to ENJOY while they attend their LEGALLY MANDATED SCHOOL DAY. Yah know? But what do I know?
So I did what any good millennial would do, and googled school lunch ideas and started writing some down. Here's what I got so far:
Sorry about my messy handwriting but it is, what it is.

- This isn't an informative website BUT a very cute website for tools to make fun kids lunchboxes. I haven't purchased anything from them yet but I'm bookmarking this website just in case! But I'm going to be using what I already have at home and shopping locally and in-person before I order ANYTHING online ;) and I always avoid that one website as much as I can because ew.
